What is the purpose of an annual return?
1) It provides the Registrar of Close Corporations with the latest information of the cc, and
2) it enables the Registrar to determine whether the cc is still in business.
If a close corporation fail to lodge its annual return for a period more than six months from the last day it may lodge its annual return, the close corporation will be placed in process of deregistration and eventually be final deregistered. This means the close corporation no longer exists.
